Aston Villa reportedly pulled out of a move for Gervinho |
ASTON VILLA have failed to sign former Arsenal attacker Gervinho, according to reports.
Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claim the Premier League side enquired about Gervinho along with Adem Ljajic.
However a deal broke down and the club have now ended their interest in the 28-year-old following talks with Roma's sporting director Walter Sabatini.
Although a move for the winger is unlikely to occur, it's understood the breakdown in negotiations will not affect a deal for Ljajic.
The Serbian international is a hot prospect and one of Tim Sherwood's top transfer targets this summer and will become part of the manager's huge summer recruitment drive.
Villa have already brought in 10 players following the sale of key men Christian Benteke to Liverpool and Fabian Delph to Manchester City.
And the attacking midfielder looks set to be Sherwood's eleventh summer catch, and is expected to demand a fee much more than the £8million Roma paid Fiorentina in 2013, especially given the interest of Premier League rivals Liverpool.
