Kate ensures her daughter loves her body

HAVING only heard derogatory comments about her own image while growing up, Kate Winslet is keen to ensure her daughter doesn’t have to go through anything similar.

So Kate makes sure that 14-year-old Mia, who she had with first husband Jim Threapleton, is given constant reminders that she’s fine the way she is.

“I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. That’s very damaging, because you’re programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinise yourself,” says the 39-year-old mother-of-three.

“I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, ‘We are so lucky we have a shape. We’re so lucky we’re curvy.
And she’ll say, ‘Mummy, I know, thank God’.”
