David De Gea's future at Manchester United remains unclear |
DAVID DE GEA could be set to stay at Manchester United after reports in Spain suggest Keylor Navas is going to be Real Madrid's No 1 this season.
Navas joined Real in 2014 for £8million and according to Marca, Benitez is going to put put his faith in the Costa Rican and give him his chance.
De Gea has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu all summer with the Spanish giants holding out for £35million and United wanting Sergio Ramos as part of a swap deal.
Louis van Gaal axed the Spaniard from his squad against Aston Villa tonight - deciding to start Sergio Romero for the second successive match after he kept a clean sheet against Tottenham last weekend.
De Gea is seen as a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas who departed the club this summer but Navas is expected to compete for the No 1 spot against Kiko Casilla.
The former Levante keeper has been offered assurances that this is his year and told to ignore the rumours surrounding De Gea's arrival.
Marca also report that should the United shot-stopper complete a move to Real this summer, Navas will feel let down by the club and may consider moving elsewhere.
