TWITTER is currently experiencing a number of outages – leaving social network users unable to log into the website or Twitter mobile apps on iOS and Android.

Twitter users are struggling to login this morning, after something went “technically wrong”
 
Twitter is down.
The hugely popular social network and micro-blogging service this morning greeted fans with a message telling them that "Something is technically wrong”.
"Thanks for noticing," the text reads, "We're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon."
The US social network’s official status page has been updated to reflect the ongoing outages, which were first reported shortly after 8:00 GMT.
Twitter's error messages confirm its network was both “over capacity” and suffering an “internal error” – causing the widespread outages.

Twitter users were greeted by the following message on Twitter.com this morning
 
“Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter,” the latest update reads.
“We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution.”
Independent website DownDetector.uk, which tracks "when services go down or have outages", reported a spike in the number of people complaining about Twitter not working in the UK. Thousands of users have flooded the website with complaints about being problems with the Twitter smartphone app.

“Why does this keep happening?” one Twitter user complained on Facebook.
Another blasted: “You're taking the p*** now, Twitter.
"It wasn't even up for an hour and it's already having problems again!”
Of those reporting outages, more than half (52 per cent) are experiencing difficulty logging into the Twitter.com website.
Meanwhile 30 per cent are struggling to use the iPad app, and only 16 per cent are having trouble with the US social network’s Android client. 
During its first few years online, Twitter become known for its outages – often trigged by an onslaught of tweets and tweets during major world events.
The error message that displayed online during these Twitter blackouts became known as the Fail Whale, since it depicted eight small birds struggling to lift a whale.
 
Mobile apps appear to be broken, as well as the website. The news comes after Twitter rolled out a major new feature to UK users.
Tweetdeck, a separate client built and run by Twitter, also appears to be suffering the same issues.
Twitter experienced a similar issue yesterday, January 18 2015.
 
“Between 06:23AM and 06:33AM PST some users were experiencing issues accessing Twitter via mobile and web,” the US social network has admitted.
“This issue has now been resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The regularity of these technical issues have led some to speculate the micro-blogging site is being targeted by hackers.
