JAN VERTONGHEN could be out for the rest of the season with ligament damage, according to reports.
Centre-back Vertonghen limped off midway through the second half of Tottenham's 3-1 win at Crystal Palace last weekend.
He will undergo a scan today to assess the damage, with reports claiming he could be ruled out for up to 12 weeks.
According to website Football Insider, the Belgium international could have sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee.
It is claimed Spurs' medical staff have told Vertonghen to expect to worst once the scan results come through.
Vertonghen, 28, has flown out with the rest of the Spurs squad to Barcelona for their mid-season training camp.
Meanwhile, Spurs are hopeful of completing a cut-price deal for FC Sion left-back Jange Pa Modou before the transfer window closes next week.
Modou, 26, is reportedly valued at just £4million.
But the Daily Star claim Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is determined to push that price even lower, with Modou entering the last six months of his contract.
The Sion captain could leave for free in the summer, with the Swiss club forced to deliberate whether or not to cash in on him now.
