TOTTENHAM have a three-day window to sign Gareth Bale if Real Madrid decide to sell their star man, according to reports.
Bale, 26, joined Real from Spurs in a world-record £86million deal in 2013.
The Wales international is reportedly being tracked by Manchester United, who are keen on completing a summer swoop.
But The Sun claim Spurs could scupper any deal agreed between Real and United at the end of the season.
As part of leaked documents on Bale's big-money transfer from White Hart Lane, it has emerged Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has a 72-hour window in which to act if Real decide to sell him to a Premier League club.
That clause runs until 2019, by which point Bale will be 29 years old.
Real are determined to keep hold of their forward for now as they face a year-long transfer ban.
They have been punished by FIFA for breaching rules regarding the signing of players under the age of 18.
Atletico Madrid have also fallen under the same ban, while Barcelona this month emerged from their embargo for the same rule breaches.
Spurs are unlikely to be able to match United's financial strength if the Red Devils do decide to go in for Bale.
However, chairman Levy would garner huge support among fans were he to enact the first refusal clause and bring the player back to White Hart Lane.
As for Bale, the Southampton academy product injured his calf for a third time this season during Real's 5-1 La Liga win over Sporting Gijon on Sunday.
He scored seven goals for Wales during their successful Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
