The League Two outfit came from behind to stun their Premier League opponents thanks to a second-half resurgence.
Jefferson Montero's audacious back-heel was cancelled out by a Liam Sercombe penalty on the stroke of half time.
Kemar Roofe then clipped home from the edge of the area to give Oxford the lead.

And 23-year-old Roofe's second, hit on the counter attack, proved pivotal as Bafetimbi Gomis gave the visitors hope with a late goal to set up a tense finale.
Swansea went into the tie having won just one of their last 10 games in the Premier League, while promotion-chasers Oxford were seeking a 10th win since November.
But it was the Premier League outfit who proved their class early on when Montero latched on to Marvin Emnes' flick to back-heel his own effort past the goalkeeper.
Swansea appeared in control until a minute before half time when Alex MacDonald hit the deck after a Kyle Bartley challenge.

Sercombe smashed home down the middle and Oxford kept the pressure up after the break - Roofe firing into the far corner from the edge of the box just four minutes into the second half.
Roofe then earned his second on the counter attack when he lunged forward and found the net off goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
Gomis responded for Swansea with a neat finish but Oxford held on to secure a memorable victory.
