Arsenal midfield move: Long-term target starts talks over contract
Southampton want to keep Victor Wanyama at St Mary's Stadium

The Gunners are keen on Kenya international Wanyama and reportedly tried to sign him last summer.
The 24-year-old is said to be worth around £20million with his current contract expiring in 2017.

Arsenal are willing to wait until the end of the season to get their man, having signed defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel last week.
But the Daily Telegraph claim Wanyama's proposed switch to the Emirates Stadium has been cast into doubt as Saints battle hard to keep him.
It is claimed Southampton officials have begun discussions with Wanyama's representatives over a new contract.

Saints are said to be banking on Charlie Austin's £4m arrival from QPR this January as highlighting to Wanyama that the club can fulfil his ambitions.
The St Mary's club reportedly beat off the likes of Crystal Palace, Stoke City, Everton, Bournemouth, Norwich City and Newcastle United to secure Austin's signature.

Saints are also thought to be striving hard to as interest in the Italy international mounts ahead of Euro 2016.
Pelle, 30, must compete with Austin and fellow forward Shane Long for game-time in Ronald Koeman's XI and while the club are keen to keep him, they are yet to push for fresh contract negotiations.
