Garry Monk has left Swansea |
SWANSEA have parted company with under fire boss Garry Monk.
Swansea sit one point above the relegation zone after a run of just one win in 11 games.
The 36-year-old had been at the club for 11 years and as manager since February 2014.
Club chairman Huw Jenkins confirmed Monk had left his post today, following the 3-0 defeat to Leicester on Saturday.
He said: “The decision has been made very reluctantly and with a heavy heart.
“To find ourselves in our current situation from where we were in the first week of September, and considering the drop of performance levels and run of results over the last three months, it has brought us to this unfortunate decision today.
“Garry took on the job 22 months ago with the backing of everyone at the club. And when you take into account the excellent campaign we had last season when we broke all club records in the Premier League, nobody foresaw the position we would be in at this moment in time.

“Bearing that in mind and the current uncertainty around the club, we felt the situation needed clarity to move forward."
Monk guided Swansea to their record Premier League fininsh of eighth last term, doing the double over Manchester United in the process.
But this season's slide - seeing them sit 15th but only a point above Newcastle - has made the club act.
Jenkins, in today's statement, confirmed the club were hoping to appoint a replacement soon.
Brendan Rodgers, David Moyes, Gus Poyet and Mark Warburton have been linked with the role.
