Serial Season 2: Popular podcast CRASHES website as fans flock to download new episode
One year after the first season, Serial has released the hugely anticipated Season 2 Episode 1
SERIAL – the hugely popular true crime podcast – has rolled out the first episode of its hugely-anticipated second season online and on iTunes. But huge online traffic appears to have already CRASHED the official website.

Popular crime podcast Serial has released the first episode of its second season.
The episode – entitled Dustwun — is available to download or stream via iTunes, SerialPodcast.org or online radio station service, Pandora.
However the immense surge of online traffic generated by the news of the release of the second season has crashed the SerialPodcast.org website – leaving fans unable to download the new show.
The show is available through iTunes and Pandora, however the first episode has not yet rolled out to every region.

The second season has crashed the Serial website, which now displays this error message
Serial fans flocked to Twitter to complain about the outage to the podcast website.
"Season 2 of Serial showed up for 2 seconds and then said it was "unavailable at this time" so who even cares about anything any more," one fan moaned.
The second season of the audio show will focus on Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl – a US soldier who left his post in Afghanistan in 2009 and was captured by the Taliban.
Episode one, Dustwun, starts with Serial host Sarah Koenig describing the soldier's return to the US in 2014 after he was successfully traded for five prisoners from Guantánamo Bay.
Bergdahl was charged with desertion and "misbehaviour before the enemy" earlier this year.
The US soldier will tell his story publicly for the first time during the second season of the podcast.
Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl speaks to screenwriter Mark Boal, who has penned the scripts for The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty.
Serial is released weekly.

The first season, which was awarded a Peabody Award –the first of its kind – back in April, consistently ranked number one on iTunes.
Premiering back in October 2014, the audio show is a spinoff of US radio show, This American Life.
Serial will return for a third season in Spring 2016, creators Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder have confirmed.
