New Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink: I shouldn't be here

GUUS HIDDINK claims he shouldn't be at Chelsea.

Hiddink has been drafted in as Chelsea's interim boss after Jose Mourinho was sacked last week.

Chelsea won the title in May but slumped dramatically this season under Mourinho and are currently 15th in the league.

And in his first press conference after taking over at Stamford Bridge for a second time, Hiddink was surprisingly honest.

 

"I shouldn't be here - it means things are not going well," he said.

"But anyhow, I'm glad to be back.

"I am here, that's the reality of the situation and I'm glad to be here."

While Chelsea are champions of England, Hiddink accepts his first job is to steer the side away from the relegation zone.

"If you look back to last season, you go to this season with targets and aims - the same - but in the Premier League that's not easy," he added.

"But that's the main target.

"It's not easy, after a championship you might relax a bit as a team. But the situation is they were down one point off the relegation zone."
