CHELSEA could explore the option of swapping Diego Costa for Jackson Martinez, admits the Atletico Madrid striker's agent.
Costa has been linked with a return to Spain after a difficult second season in the Premier League.
He scored a Boxing Day double against Watford but prior to that had scored just three league goals this term.
And the Spain striker has come in for criticism from the Chelsea fans following Jose Mourinho's sacking.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Martinez, who joined Atletico in the summer from Porto.
"I can't say it's a lie, this is football and nobody knows what the future holds, what I can say is that Jackson isn't a player who leaves a club unless it's through the front door," Henrique Pompeo told Spanish paper AS.
Chelsea are assessing their striking options ahead of the transfer window opening next week.
Radamel Falcao is likely to be sent back to Monaco while efforts will be made to land Jamie Vardy.
Alex Teixeira looks set to head to west London, but the Martinez/Costa situation is one to watch.
Martinez has struggled in Madrid, scoring just three goals in 12 games since the £25million move.
Pompeo added: "He made a decision and he's very happy in Madrid, he loves the club, although obviously he would have preferred to have got off to a different start on a personal level, but he's happy for the squad because things are going well."
