Sky TV set to launch its 'most significant new product in years'
Sky is believed to be preparing an entirely new service for the UK
SKY is preparing to launch a brand-new product range – its "most significant" update in years.

Broadcaster Sky is preparing to launch a new product line-up – separate from its hugely successful satellite television business and NOW TV video on-demand box.
Sky sent out an invite to the announcement which teased "It's time to set your TV free," and included a #SetTVFree social hashtag for the event.
But what Sky got planned?

Well, a number of industry sources have told NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com to expect something big from the digital TV service provider.
Sky is believed to be planning an entirely new product range – its "most significant" in years.
The most obvious upgrade would be the addition of Ultra HD 4K video.
Sky hasn't upgraded the standard 1080i quality of its Sky+HD service since its initial launch back in 2006.

Ultra HD 4K could be part of the Sky announcement
The television firm is believed to have been working on a new set-top box – dubbed SkyQ – for a few years.
The new hardware will reportedly ship with Netflix-style on-demand video library and will stream live 4K video to rival BT Sport Ultra HD.
On top of that – an overhauled Sky user interface is expected to be able to learn what types of content customers like to watch and then make educated guesses on related content.

SkyQ is rumoured to combine live content, recorded shows and on-demand content in the same place – making jumping between old, new and live content seamless.
Whether or not this long-rumoured new hardware will make an appearance next month remains to be seen.
