MANCHESTER CITY striker Sergio Aguero is aiming to put his injury nightmare behind him by returning to face Liverpool.
Aguero has missed City's last seven matches after tearing a hamstring while playing for Argentina against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier last month.
The forward was in top form at the time of his injury having hit five goals in a 6-1 Premier League demolition of Newcastle in his last game for his club.
He admitted it has been a frustrating time since, and is eager to get back to action for Manuel Pellegrini's league leaders when they take on Liverpool.
"I do hope I can play in this game," he said. "I'm doing everything in my power to get to the match in top condition. It's been a frustrating time."
Aguero, 27, has hit eight goals in total for City this season, and is hoping to put his injury woes behind him after suffering a number of hamstring problems over the last two years.
He acknowledged the timing of his latest setback had been particularly tough in the light of his impressive display against Newcastle.
Aguero added: "The game against Newcastle was special because it's not every week you get to score five goals in one game.
"The only other occasion I remember scoring five in a single match was when I was 12, for Independiente in a youth tournament in Argentina.
"I managed to score four against Tottenham last season, which was the most I'd scored as a professional up to that point."
