RUSSELL CROWE shows us a shocking soppy and sweet new side in an exclusive interview about his latest film Fathers and Daughters with Amanda Seyfried.
The Aussie hard man has never been afraid to express his opinions. Refreshingly, for someone in Hollywood, he also doesn't feel the need to gush unnecessarily about his experience working on every film.
“You don’t have to have a friendship with fellow actors to have chemistry," he reveals.
The Oscar-winner speaks cadidly about the film-making process in our exclusive sneak peek behind the scenes of his latest release, Fathers and Daughters, which is out now in cinemas.
But the most startling part of the interview is Crowe's unabashed cuteness in some adorable behind-the-scenes glimpses of him working with his tiny tot co-star, Kylie Rogers.
"If someone’s bringing it, then that’s where the chemistry is going to come from because of what people are putting out," he declares.
But Crowe also admits that he's always happy when the chemistry does happen.
"It’s just much more fun if you have a real connection,” he says.
He may seem like a tough guy to please, but the exclusive clip soon shows a shocking sweet side to the actor.
Fathers and Daughters, you'll be amazed to know, focusses on the difficult relationship between a troubled writer and his little princess.
Flash-back scenes show Crowe's Pulitzer-winning author as he struggles with raising his young daughter Katie whilst suffering from a mental illness.
The relationship between the big burly star and 9-year-old actress Kylie Rogers is totally adorable on and OFF screen.
“She’s such a sweet girl,” Crowe gushes. “I’ve been throwing some silly stuff at her, because you know, the dad part of you takes over.”
Crowe is a father himself to Charles, 11, and Tennyson, 8, with his wife, Danielle.
In our clip he looks totally at home goofing around with young Kylie. It's a side to the actor that we rarely see.
The pair are shown laughing and playing together – but Crowe is quick to stress what a professional his young co-star is.
“She’s really focussed, so I’m able to sort of read the situation as we go and keep the pretend going,” he says.
The film jumps between the 1980s and early 2000s, where Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Les Miserables) plays a grown up Katie battling issues of her own from her past.
The powerful drama also features Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, Diane Kruger, Octavia Spencer and Jane Fonda.
“It speaks about the essential love between a parent and a child. There’s a lot of things in this movie that people will connect to their own lives, "Crowe adds.
"I’ll give you a warning ahead of time though, you better take some tissues.”
Fathers and Daughters is out now in cinemas.
