REAL MADRID are preparing to re-sign Alvaro Morata if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves the club next summer, according to reports.
The 23-year-old’s contract at Juventus has a buy-back clause, which would allow him to return to the Santiago Bernabeu where he was nurtured as a youth player.
Since moving to Italy for £14million in 2014, Morata has developed into a key player for Max Allegri, scoring 15 goals last season and three so far this term.
With two of his goals in last year’s Champions League proving decisive as he helped Juve knock out his former club with a 3-2 aggregate win.
The Spain international is believed to be happy with life in Turin, but La Gazette dello Sport claim he would be prepared to return in the event of Ronaldo’s departure.
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with Ronaldo, who is reportedly interested in a move away from Spain.
As a result of this interest, Madrid have lined up Morata as a contingency plan.
Morata is fully aware of the buy-back clause in his contract and told Radio Marca last month:
"What the papers say about there being a buyback clause for me to go back to Real Madrid is true.”
"However, some things are more important than clauses and a person's happiness must be considered.
"If we win the Champions League final at the San Siro then I will walk back to Turin."
