Man Utd icon Wayne Rooney ‘approached’ over finishing his career in China
The Chinese Super League are keen to snaffle Wayne Rooney

WAYNE ROONEY has reportedly been approached about whether he would be interested in finishing his career in China.

The 30-year-old has seen his performances waver this term, managing just two goals in the Premier League.
Rooney, whose contract runs up in three years time, has never played abroad.
But The Sun now claim that Rooney’s representatives have been contacted by Chinese Super League chiefs, who are desperate to raise the profile of Asian football.

The Chinese Super League has benefitted from a huge cash injection - £830million - which has come from the signing of a big TV deal.
The same report suggests Rooney and his advisers will explore every avenue before deciding upon their next move.
Rooney of course wouldn’t be the first Premier League footballer to play in China.

Other former players to take the plunge include Didier Drogba, Tim Cahill, Demba Ba and Momo Sissoko.
Rooney’s former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is currently in charge of Shanghai.
Rooney’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block, as he is on a £300,000-a-week deal with Manchester United.
