DAVID BECKHAM and Paul Scholes rolled back the years to thrill a sell-out Old Trafford crowd in the UNICEF "Match for Children" - as Great Britain and Ireland sealed a 3-1 win over the Rest of the World.
 
It was just like the old days as Beckham delivered an inch perfect cross from the right wing for Scholes to head Great Britain and Ireland XI into a first half lead agianst a Rest of the World XI.
Beckham and Scholes also combined for the second goal scored by Michael Owen.

Beckham again crossed from the right flank, Scholes turned the ball back at the far post for Owen to get the better of Fernando Hierro to net from close range.
Dwight Yorke pulled one back for the Rest of the World before Owen made it 3-1 when he tapped home after a mistake by Raimond Van Der Gouw.

The biggest cheer of the day from a 75,381 crowd came when Beckham came off 15 minutes from the end and was replaced by his eldest Brooklyn, in his first appearance at the stadium his dad graced for so many years, although Beckham senior actually came back on late in the game for Sol Campbell.
A minute’s silence was held before kick-off for the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.
While Beckham clearly enjoyed the day it wasn't a memorable occasion for former United team-mate Nicky Butt was stretchered off in the first half with what is understood to be a ruptured Achilles tendon.
The match is expected a seven-figure sum for UNICEF, the United Nations childrens' charity, of which Beckham has been an ambassador for a the last decade.
