Fans give go-ahead for purchase as Chelsea move on new stadium
Wimbledon bought the ground in 2003, but will now sell it to Chelsea for their women's side
AFC WIMBLEDON’S fans have given the go ahead for their Kingsmeadow stadium to be sold to Chelsea.

The Premier League club want to use the 4,800-capacity stadium in Kingston, Surrey, for their women’s, youth and academy teams.
Chelsea will pay an initial £600,000 for the ground, plus two further payments when the lease is transferred to them and the Dons move out, in a deal eventually expected to be worth around £2million.
The Dons Trust, the supporters body through which the fans own the League Two club, voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposal.

The deal is an important step in enabling Wimbledon to move back to their spiritual home in nearby Merton, where they have lodged a planning application for a 20,000-capacity stadium which they hope to move into by 2018.
The Dons bought the ground from Kingstonian in 2003, and have pledged to help the non-League club find a new home when Chelsea move in.
