The Fallout 4 Vault-Tec team will be with you shortly |
FALLOUT 4 is ruining lives across the globe since its launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC according to a new video, while Bethesda have given an update on some of the game's key robotic features.
UPDATE ONE: having impressed with its sheer scope and level of ambition, it seems Bethesda's latest instalment in the Fallout franchise has proved a big success.
Having revealed the scope of its launch impact, new stats are coming in covering the game's digital sales.
Independent research group SuperData say the game has sold more than 1.8 million digital units on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Steam.
It took just three days to build these level of sales, according to the report, with 1.2 million units sold exclusively on PC.
Bethesda have gone all out to make their new title as fun as possible and although there are still some noteworthy bugs included, some of the games other little touches really help it to shine.
A new Easter Egg spotted by fans allows players to call Vault-Tec in real life. a phone number can be found on a poster during the prologue, reading 1-888-4-VAULT-TEC.
A message is played out telling you that all their operators are busy and that you are behind 100 million other callers, with a wait time of over 78,000 hours.
Fallout 4's robotic companion is a keeper |
Since I started playing the game last week I've found myself feeling right at home exploring the familiar feeling wastelands.
Enemies seem more challenging and have the uncanny ability to suddenly gang up on my character, sending him fleeing with nothing more to show for the encounter then a broken arm and a lot less ammo.
However, one part of Fallout 4 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC that has surprised me is the new settlement building options, simple and sometimes clunky, this new feature can be totally addictive.
Exploring Fallout 4's wastelands can sometimes lead to the need for heavy backup |
I realise the concept of building your own little world is hardly groundbreaking in 2015 but I still found myself going to bed ridiculously late because I started building a home and couldn't stop until it was completed.
A new video sums up how I feel, called Fallout 4 Ruined My Life, the new clip pokes fun at the addictive side to the title’s gameplay and the effects its release has had on fictional relationships around the globe.
Bethesda continues to release new information about Fallout 4, this time focusing on the creation of one of the game's robotic companions, Codsworth.
Fallout 4's settlement building feature can be surprisingly addictive |
Senior Character Artist Dennis Mejillones credits Lead Artist Istvan Pely for a specific piece of feedback that he found particularly helpful in shaping the iconic automaton, revealing: “This has to feel like a home appliance.
“Like something you’d want to buy to have in your home.”
“The part that covers his actual eye pod was designed after a 1950s scooter.
“It has that fun, friendly feel.”
One of the first big changes that you find while exploring Fallout 4 for the first time is when Codsworth says your name, it's a nice new feature and may be why some people have kept him around as a companion full time.
“The moment I can get him as my companion, he’s my companion,” Mejillones adds.
“Because when I’m getting my ass kicked and he comes in with flamethrowers and saws, and he saves me, I’m like: You saved your daddy. He criticises some of my actions. We don’t agree on everything. But it’s all good. I can live with that.”
