Chelsea are preparing to pay £40million to sign Atletico Madrid's Antoine Greizmann |
CHELSEA are ready to go back to Atletico Madrid in their search for more firepower after targeting the Spanish club’s French striker Antoine Griezmann.
Under fire boss Jose Mourinho had the 24-year-old on his wanted list in the summer but was told the player, who only signed 12 months previously for £25 million from Real Sociedad, was staying put.
But Chelsea are ready to make another attempt to sign Griezmann and are prepared to pay around £40 million to land their man.
They are desperate for more goals having seen former Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa struggle this season, Radamel Falcao flop and Loic Remy used only sparingly.
Griezmann heads the wanted list and it’s believed the player would be interested in a move to the Premier League.
The French international was relieved to learn that his sister had survived the barbaric attack on the Bataclan concert hall in Paris on Friday night.
While he was playing for France against Germany at the Stade de France, nearby at the Bataclan his sister was able to escape unhurt from the atrocity which unfurled at a rock concert.
