John Terry hasn't featured for Chelsea in the last three fixtures |
CHELSEA manager Jose Mourinho says he doesn’t find it difficult to leave John Terry out of his starting XI, but is happy to see he has the fans’ support.
Terry, 33, started all but five games in all competitions last term as the Blues claimed the Premier League title end the League Cup.
But the Chelsea captain has failed to feature in the last three outings against Arsenal, Newcastle and Porto, with Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma favoured in the heart of the defence.
When asked if he finds it hard to leave Terry out of the starting XI, Mourinho replied: “No.”
And on the supporters’ ‘we want our captain back’ chants, the 52-year-old said: “The fans can sing and I'm happy they sing and support John.
“It's more important they support John when he's not playing than when he is playing.
“When he is playing he is on a high so he doesn't need that support.”
But the Blues manager knows he call on Terry for any game and know the experienced defender will be ready.
Mourinho added: “He is ready every game to play. Even the ones I leave him on the bench. He is ready to play.”
