Frank de Boer is keen on replacing Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool boss |
AJAX coach Frank de Boer has described Liverpool as a "fantastic club" and admits a move into Premier League management is moving ever closer as he considers a "new adventure."
De Boer also hailed Newcastle United, but it is his comments about Liverpool that will resonate at a time when current Anfield manager Brendan Rodgers is under intense pressure.
Former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp and ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti have both been linked with Rodgers' job and are currently out of work.
De Boer, the former Holland international, has won four Eredivisie titles with Ajax since taking over in 2010 and suggested he wants to see the season through with them.

In an interview with the BBC's World Service, he was asked specifically about Liverpool and Newcastle.
"They are fantastic clubs," said De Boer, 45.
"Liverpool and Newcastle - with supporters behind them - it is a fantastic environment to coach but this year it is important for me to do well at Ajax and then we will see."

De Boer has previously claimed Liverpool spoke to him as a potential successor to Kenny Dalglish in 2012 before appointing Rodgers. He has also said he was in the running to manage Tottenham, but was overlooked in favour of Mauricio Pochettino.
A move to the England clearly appeals and De Boer said: "Yes, I think every year it comes closer of course.
"I'm looking maybe for another adventure. If there is an interesting club that I think with my quality I can make that team better – if I can, than I will take that chance."
