Eva Carneiro intends on claiming for constructive dismissal against Chelsea |
FORMER Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro's lawyers have served notice on the club that she intends to seek a claim for constructive dismissal.
News News Blog Sport understands that legal papers were served on the club this week and these will trigger a potentially embarrassing employment tribunal, unless an out-of-court settlement can be agreed.
Carneiro's lawyers served the papers after failing to agree a settlement with Chelsea. She left the club last month after the incident, when she and phsyio Jon Fearn were criticised by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for coming onto the field in the game against Swansea in August to treat Eden Hazard.
Mourinho has since been cleared by the FA of using discriminatory language against Carneiro.
The doctor is almost certain to also pursue a discrimination claim, with constructive dismissal awards normally capped at £78,335.
There was a rare piece of good news for Mourinho last night as Brazilian midfielder Ramires signed a two-year extension to his contract.
The strong-running 28-year-old, one of Mourinho's best players in this dismal season, has signed a new deal that will take him through to 2019.
Lucas Piazon, on loan at Championship club Reading, is one of two Brazilian players who have had arrest warrants issued on them by Canadian police after an allegation of sexual assualt following an incident at the Pan Am Games in Toronto in July.
