Bournemouth 1 - Watford 1: Boruc gift is a Hornets bonus
Artur Boruc gifted Watford the equaliser
BRAZILIAN ’keeper Heurelho Gomes earned Watford a deserved point in the battle between the sides automatically promoted in May.

But it was a shocking blunder by Gomes’ opposite number Artur Boruc that helped ensure Watford did not leave Bournemouth empty-handed.
The home side deservedly took a 28th-minute lead when Glenn Murray headed home from six yards.
But a howler by Boruc gifted Watford the equaliser. Sylvain Distin rolled a back-pass to the keeper,
who tried to return it to the defender.

Instead, he rolled it to Odion Ighalo, who tapped it into an empty net.
Cherries manager Eddie Howe defended Boruc saying: “It was one of those things.
“There is no blame attached to Artur because he has made very few errors with us but the timing of the goal was unfortunate.”

But it took two superb saves from Gomes in the final 10 minutes to frustrate Howe’s side.
First he pushed away Steve Cook’s overhead kick then he saved Murray’s penalty after Etienne Capoue brought down sub Adam Smith.
Watford boss Quique Flores said: “We made high pressure on their keeper when he made his mistake.
“We have scored only six goals so Gomes is very important for us the way he is playing

“I thought the overhead kick was a goal for Bournemouth and then he saved the penalty kick.”
And Howe added: “When we had the penalty late on I expected us to win but Gomes pulled off another top-class save.”
BOURNEMOUTH: Boruc; Francis, Cook, Distin, Daniels; Ritchie, Gosling, Surman, Pugh (Smith 57); King (O’Kane 70), Murray.
