SAMSUNG has announced a new SmartThings Hub, which will allow you to monitor, control and secure your home from anywhere in the world.
Samsung unveiled its new SmartThings Hub at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, this morning.
The South Korean technology firm is hoping that consumers will not find the idea of linking together their security cameras, central heating systems and door locks. Samsung SmartThings Starter Kits are being released in the UK from next week and will be available online and from a number of high street retailers. The SmartThings Starter Kit is priced at £199. Extra sensors are all priced around £30, which means connecting all of your power outlets and placing sensors on all of your doors could be a pricey upgrade.
The gadget hub links a range of different devices and allows you to control any wireless video cameras, the central heating and even the lights around your house – from a simple smartphone app.
In fact, the Samsung SmartThings Hub can communicate and link some 200 existing devices from the likes of BOSE, Yale, Phillips, Jawbone and BMW.
SmartThings, which first appeared as a KickStarter project, sold itself to Samsung a little over a year ago.
However – the refreshed Samsung SmartHub is not restricted to work only with Samsung smartphone.
The open source connected hub can be controlled with an iOS or Android mobile app from wherever you are in the world.
