Victor Valdes has made only two appearances since signing for Manchester United |
IKER CASILLAS has questioned Manchester United over their treatment of goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
Valdes has made just two appearances since joining United in January and his future has been the subject of intense speculation.
He was effectively sacked by manager Louis van Gaal earlier in the summer, while he is yet to be given a squad number and wasn't named in the club's Champions League squad.
And Casillas, who used to line up against the former Barcelona man for fierce rivals Real Madrid, thinks the treatment he has received shows how "ungrateful" football can be.
"I want to send all my support and a lot of encouragement to Victor," Casillas said.
"This is proof that at times football is ungrateful.
"He deserves to find a solution soon because of the type of player he is."
Valdes appeared to be on the verge of joining Turkish outfit Besiktas before the close of the transfer window.
But after failing to agree personal terms, he is stuck at Old Trafford until January at least and Casillas says he is surprised by the situation his former Spain team-mate has found himself in.
"Had they told us a year-and-a-half ago that he would be in this situation, no one would have believed it," he added.
"Obviously, no one wishes him that. I know he will come out of this situation because he has a privileged mind and I really hope he comes out of this.
"I'm certain he will succeed because we all get back to enjoying ourselves [after leaving a club]."
