PAUL DICKOV has been sacked as manager of Doncaster.
The former Manchester City and Scotland striker's two-year spell in charge was brought to an end after the League One club won just one of their opening six league games.
A club statement said: "David Blunt, Chairman of Doncaster Rovers Football Club has today confirmed that Paul Dickov has left his position as first team manager based on performance to date.
"The Board are ambitious for a top six finish and that is, and will remain our aim.
"From today Rob Jones (the defender) will take charge of first team affairs on a temporary basis. The club has full confidence in Rob as we now look forward to a tough game against Walsall this weekend."
