The Taken King Update for Destiny is set to play more on the lore set out by Bungie |
BUNGIE say the story changes planned for Destiny's September expansion, The Taken King update, will help to utilise some of the game's lesser known features.
Grimoire Cards are an aspect of the game that has been present from the start and help to unlock some of the much needed lore that helps to pad out the Destiny storyline.
The cards are obtained by completing and playing some of the varying game modes in the game which earn you Grimoire points and help unlock new story details.
It's a feature of the game that can be breezed past but is something that the studio hope they can develop further and use to improve Destiny's overall storytelling.
Taken King creative director Luke Smith says one of the changes made in having Nolan North take over the duties of voicing your Ghost companion from Peter Dinklage, and also adding more voice over content.
Smith told Edge Magazine: “We’re yet to meet our potential in getting Grimoire [material] into the game.
“The thing we have done, though, is address the desire for lore with the Ghost.
"It’s a local, boots-on-the-ground purveyor of lore. In that opt-in way, there’s more of it in the game.”
Bungie have also revealed more on some of the endgame activities that will be available to fans after completing the latest DLC package, including the changes made to Strikes in Destiny Year Two.
Writing in the weekly Bungie Blog, Smith added: "In our Strike the Dreadnaught reveal earlier this week, we showed some and told some about how we wanted Strikes to move forward into Year 2.
"Strike replayability is augmented by variability, Bosses with more interested combat phases and less vitality, Strike-specific rewards, Armor drops that look like trophies from the Strike boss, weapons that only drop from certain Strikes
"But those aren't the only changes coming to Strikes. We've also looked at the programming/Strike playlists and made some changes there, too."
Other changes are also planned for the Nightfall rotation, including burn skulls motivating weapon rotation and Burn resist talents found on chest pieces rotating armor.
The new Vanguard Heroic Playlist is set to take the place of a dedicated Weekly Heroic Strike, with players able to receive bonus Legendary Marks from the Weekly Heroic Playlist at the account level rather than the character level.
