James Wilson is to remain at Manchester United until at least December |
LOUIS VAN GAAL has confirmed Manchester United prodigy James Wilson will not be loaned out before December.
The availability of the 19-year-old became apparent when Man United signed Anthony Martial from Monaco for £36million, with United indicating they will listen to loan offers for Wilson.
This put a host of clubs on alert with Paul Clement's Derby expressing an interest in taking the Old Trafford academy product on loan.
However, Van Gaal, who has assured Wilson he is part of the his long-term plans, revealed he has 'doubts' over whether it would be worthwhile loaning him out to a Championship club, so for that reason will wait for two months before making a decision.
"I have talked with him and I think we wait until December," the United boss said.
The Dutch boss also outlined that Wilson will be used as cover for Wayne Rooney and Martial if they were to sustain injuries.
"We have three injured players. They are not in his position, but we have Martial and Rooney and maybe I can use Fellaini as a Plan B. Wilson is a natural successor of Martial," he said.
Wilson has been left frustrated in recent times at United with a lack of game time after bursting onto the scene by scoring two goals on his Premier League debut against Hull in 2014.
