A DEVOTED husband made his diamond wedding anniversary twinkle even more by asking the Queen to congratulate his wife.

Former engineer Ben Harrison, 82, arranged for a card to be delivered to his wife Alice on the day they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
“I asked Alice to get the door when the postman came. It made her day,” he said.

Alice, also 82, had no idea that her husband and daughter-in-law Margaret had planned the surprise when the card arrived at home in Burnley, Lancashire.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “It has a beautiful picture of the Queen on the front wearing a lovely outfit she wore to Ascot. “
The Palace asks for a relative to apply to make sure a card is sent.
