A teenager was shocked into dropping five dress sizes after seeing a picture of herself on holiday – and realising she was obese.
Adele Morgan, now 20, believed she was a healthy size because she weighed 12 stone but at 4ft 11in she had a body mass index (BMI) of more than 33.
The size 14-16 student was on a trip to South Africa with her university course when she realised the extent of her weight troubles.
She said: "I wouldn't have any pictures taken - as a result I didn't know what I looked like."
Adele's teacher Robyn managed to take a picture of her as part of a group, and it was that snap that prompted the 20-year-old to lose weight.
She said: "I could see my rolls of fat through the top. I was so shocked, I looked disgusting.
"I was fat. That's all I could think looking at it. I was so devastated."
But Adele hadn't always struggled with her weight and admitted she began piling on the pounds in her late teens.
Adele's parents cooked her healthy dinners and she took a packed lunch to school for many years.
It was when the youngster moved from Surrey to Newquay to study marine biology, and she started cooking her own means, that the problems began.
She said: "I'd have waffles and veggie bacon and sausages for breakfast, fatty quiche for lunch and then pizza for tea.
"I was eating a slice of bread with every meal no matter what it was. Then after a night out it was a quick stop to the takeaway for cheesy chips.
"Plus going out and drinking more, I was big but I just didn't notice."
She added; "I didn't want to look at myself, I wore a baggy hoody with my hands in the pockets so it wouldn't cling to me and jeans all the time."
In February 2014, Adele took part in the trip to Kruger national park in South Africa as part of a conservation project for her course - and the photograph that would change her life was taken.
The student said: "I hadn't looked at a picture of myself in so long I couldn't believe what I looked like.
"I was so upset. I had to do something."
In March 2014 she joined Slimming World, turned her unhealthy habits around and lost five pounds in a week.
Her diet changed from fatty fast foods to yoghurt with berries for breakfast, jacket potato with beans for lunch and bangers and mash for dinner.
In three months she lost a stone and by December 2014 Adele had achieved her target weight of 7st 13, fitting into a size 8.
