Everton are reportedly free to sign Dante for around £6.4m |
NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT brings you all the latest transfer news from Goodison Park.
Everton are set to sign River Plate defender Ramiro Funes Mori after reportedly agreeing a £5.5million fee.
The 24-year-old Argentina international is expected to head to Merseyside for a medical before the transfer deadline shuts, claims the Liverpool Echo.
Mori helped River Plate win the Copa Libertadores this season and is set to play friendlies for Argentina in September.
And he has been earmarked as a replacement for John Stones, who may leave the club for Chelsea this summer.
Indeed, Chelsea saw a £30m bid for Stones rejected this week but are set to improve that offer to £40m and meet Everton's valuation of the defender.
Stones, 21, boasts a handful of England caps and Toffees bosses want to keep the ace at Goodison Park.
He is also being monitored by Manchester United but Chelsea remain favourites to sign him after agreeing terms with Barcelona winger Pedro over a move.
Another defender on manager Roberto Martinez's radar is reportedly Bayern Munich ace Dante.
The former United target was thought to be nearing a move to Old Trafford in January but no switch ever materialised.
This summer United have focused on other targets - namely Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi, who joined Manchester City today.
And Everton are battling Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach for 31-year-old Dante, who is available for £6.4m claim Bild.
West Ham are ready to "gamble" on Alex Song's signing, as Sky Sports suggest both Everton and Tottenham are keen on the midfielder.
Song, 27, played on loan at Upton Park last season after failing to make it at Barcelona.
He is expected to sign a big-money contract with the Hammers, even though an injury means he cannot pass a full medical before the transfer deadline.
“We have a deal in place with Alex Song subject to a medical. If the medical is OK, we’ll take him," said co-owner David Sullivan.
“He’s a player we all admire and we just hope that the medical shows he’s in a sufficient state for us to gamble.
“He couldn’t physically pass a medical tomorrow, but if the medics say it’s just a technical thing and he’s only a couple of weeks away you’d take that gamble and hope they’re right."
Manager Slaven Bilic also expressed his hope that the Hammers will land the midfielder.
“We know how good he was last year, how good he is as a player. He has played for Arsenal and Barcelona," Bilic said.
“We would like to get him. We got a lot of positive comments or details about his improvements and everything. We are really confident that he will pass the medical."
