Benedict Cumberbatch as Hamlet: FIRST LOOK photos of Barbican production unveiled
In the images 39-year-old Sherlock star looks every inch the dark, brooding Danish prince in the Shakespearean tragedy, which is being staged at the Barbican Theatre.
One of the shots shows the actor at a table with a glass of wine in front of him and an ominous set to antlers as he gazes distractedly into the distance.

Another shows him dramatically raising a dagger as he is about to stab someone unseen.
In on image he is comforting his mother and the queen of Denmark Gertrude, played by Anastasia Hill.
Hamlet and Laertes, portrayed by Kobna Holdbrok-Smith, hold hands at what appears to be the end of the performance.
The role of the grief-stricken Ophelia has been taken on Siân Brooke, while Rome and Game of Thrones star Ciaran Hinds is playing the murderous uncle Claudius.
Some of the photos show the cast rehearsing and Benedict can be seen deep in concentration as the actors warm up.
Earlier this year images of the production were revealed with a cast of child actors portraying the iconic characters.
But this is the first time pictures of the actors playing the roles have been unveiled.
The Barbican's production of Hamlet has been directed by Posh's Lyndsey Turner.
Despite only starting on Wednesday, the production has already been unofficially reviewed with many praising Benedict's performance as "electrifying".
Nevertheless there was criticism from some quarters after a negative review was published before the official press night on August 25.
