The Witcher 3 update is set to land on Xbox One, PS4 and PC |
WITCHER 3: Wild Hunt fans will soon be able to put themselves to a new test with the game's latest planned update on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
The long mooted Game Plus Mode has been confirmed and is set to be one of the game's most popular new features.
Fans have been asking developers CD Projekt RED if they would consider adding a way for players to carry on their adventures from the start, while keeping hold of their best loot.
The Witcher 3 team revealed that it would be the final piece of the free DLC for the Wild Hunt but would not be released this week as more time was needed to complete.
Projekt RED had been cautious when speaking about adding a Game Plus Mode in the past, explaining that they would be focused on the next two paid-for content updates set for release.
But having announced the existence of NG+, community manager, Marcin Momot, explained some of the finer details of what to expect from your second run through.
First of all, enemies will be tougher, money will carry across, as well as created Elixirs and player experience.
There will also be armor sets that are leveled higher than in the normal game.
The starting level for your character will be based on how high it was when you finished your game, while fans can also use a clearing potion to try out a new skill set.

Momot explained: "When starting New Game Plus you can select any difficulty level.
"You can obtain the Death Match achievement when playing the NG+ mode.
"You also get a free Clearing Potion at the start so you can reset your skills and try a different build."
There is no current release date for the new game mode, although community manager Chris Priestly shared this insight into the usual way DLC and patch content is released.
Writing on the game's official forums, he commented: "Here is how releasing DLC & patches works.
"This applies to CDPR and to the other major studio I have worked with. I cannot guarantee this is how it works everywhere, but in my experience, this is how it works.
"This is an extremely simplified view and doesn't take into consideration all the business agreements, contracts, potential technical delays, unforeseen hoohah, etc and likely a million things I am forgetting that goes on, but gives you a rough understanding.
- Studio finishes making DLC/patch
- Studio alerts partners that patch/DLC is ready for testing (partners includes Microsoft, Sony, GOG, Steam, etc)
- Partners test DLC/patch to make sure it works correctly for their systems
- If problems are found, DLC/patch is reworked until issues are fixed.
- Once DLC/patch is approved, date of release is scheduled (usually ASAP for patches, DLC on specific date)
- Final DLC/patch is sent to partners for propagation onto servers for release
- Release
