The England international was left out by Mauricio Pochettino but he was introduced on the hour mark and provided the assist for the only goal of the game.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Alli broke down the left channel in the 64th minute after latching onto a ball from Mousa Dembele before pulling it across for the unlikely hero Kieran Trippier to finish it off.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The right-back had made his way up the field as Tottenham searched for a winner in a game they dominated throughout, and fans were grateful the summer signing did.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Trippier's first Premier League goal for the club against Quique Flores' side in only his fifth league appearance for Spurs could help the ex-Burnley man kick start his north London career.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Pochettino's side capitalised on Manchester City's failure against league leaders Leicester to secure themselves second spot in the table with a title charge truly on.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Meanwhile, Watford looked a shadow of the side that has impressed so much this season, and had it not been for Heurelho Gomes and his defence, the Hornets could have been on the end of a thrashing.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Troy Deeney was left on the bench and Watford's top scorer Odion Ighalo failed to make a mark on the game as a result. The Hornets dropped to 10th in the table following their defeat.</div>

Tottenham News: Why striker deal collapsed, star eyes trophies, other clubs wanted ace

<a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/moussa-dembele-to-tottenham-fulham-pull-plug-after-loan-back-deal-stalls-a6846106.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Tottenham's deadline-day agreement to sign Fulham striker Moussa Dembele</a> was called off at the last minute because of a disagreement over a loan move.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Dembele, 19, was all set to join Spurs on a permeant switch yesterday.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Frenchman had passed a medical and agreed personal terms, with his fee set at around £6million.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But <em>The Independent</em> claim Fulham pulled the plyg on the move after Spurs refused to meet their demands to loan Dembele back to Craven Cottage for the rest of the season.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fulham could be dragged into a Championship relegation battle later this season and Dembele, with 11 goals to his name, is seen as vital to their survival hopes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fulham, it is claimed, are now likely to offload the ace at the end of the season.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Spurs ace Eric Dier insists the club remain in the title race and will not buckle under the pressure to at least make the top four.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sours sit fourth in the Premier League, just five points off leaders Leicester, with Arsenal and Manchester City also gunning for the championship.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And Dier believes his side have the strength to <a href="http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/eric-dier-looks-ahead-to-norwich-and-back-on-colchester-010216/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">challenge for trophies as they seek to cut that gap of Leicester when they play Norwich tonight</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"There was pressure from the beginning of the season and obviously with us being up there and fighting for everything there will be added pressure, but we're all enjoying ourselves at the moment," Dier told the club's website.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I don't think we play with pressure, we enjoy ourselves and we play freely.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It’s a big topic and something we’ve got to look into seriously.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yet questions may be raised on football’s head injury protocols and the decision to allow Eastman to return to the fi eld after receiving stitches to his head wound. He was soon substituted.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Asked whether it was a mistake for Eastman to return to the field, Keen said: “No. It’s the FA Cup fourth round, you’re playing Tottenham Hotspur at home.</div>

“The boy wants to play. He wants to get on the pitch, so that’s what we did. Then he said he’s not quite right, so we took him off.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nacer Chadli scored twice to take his tally to four goals in three games, while Eric Dier and Tom Carroll were also on target as Spurs won a fourth straight game.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ben Davies’ own goal was a mere consolation for League One’s bottom club, who are without a win in 14 league games.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Keen added: “I thought it was a gallant effort. We had a real go, things didn’t go our way, but Tottenham are a top team and it was a tough day.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Spurs had not progressed past this stage since they reached the semi-final in 2012.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The job’s done, we’re in the next round,” Pochettino said. “When you create a lot of chances and it’s impossible to score in the first 15 minutes – we created five, six, seven clear chances – you always invite the opponent to believe.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“But I think we were always in control. Maybe we conceded some chances but I feel very pleased because of the result.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Pochettino was “very pleased” for Chadli, but believes the Belgian should have had a hat-trick after hitting the crossbar. “Sometimes you need to keep some goals for the next games,” he said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Spurs, who play at Norwich on Tuesday, are also in the latter stages of the Europa League and fourth in the Premier League.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Asked if a treble was a realistic target, Pochettino said: “We have quality enough and a strong squad to try to fight for every competition. Then we’ll see.”</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
They proved that was nonsense with a superb reaction here to the narrow midweek home defeat by Leicester, romping to a victory inspired by two goals from Christian Eriksen. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
Midfielder Mousa Dembele also scored and the triumph was capped by a powerhouse penalty late in the game by England striker Harry Kane. It was a vibrant all-round display by Tottenham that delighted manager Mauricio Pochettino. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
“I am very happy,” he said. “That was a fantastic reaction by the players and it shows that although they are young they have a very strong mentality. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
“It was important to win this game as we did, and now the players must get even stronger. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
“I think fourth in the table is a realistic position for us, and it is too early to speak about the title. We have to keep learning and keep improving. The time to set objectives is when there eight, nine or ten games left in the season.”</div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
For the opening half hour Pochettino had been a manager jumping on hot coals down at the touchline as his team failed to capitalise on their almost complete domination of the ball. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
Some of that was down to the brilliance of Sunderland’s young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who made a series of flying saves. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
Some of it was Tottenham’s desire to tiptoe through the massed defence and find all routes blocked, and some of it was poor shooting. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
The frustration only multiplied when Sunderland took a surprise lead in the 41st minute with a wonderfully crafted goal. Adam Johnson played a defence-splitting pass and full-back Patrick Van Aanholt ran clear in the area to score precisely at the near post. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
Jermain Defoe had been showing flashes of evergreen energy and excellence for the visitors, but it was only a matter of time before the control of Spurs was translated into goals. They had an instant response to going behind. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
He was horribly late trying to tackle Spurs full-back Danny Rose in the box and conceded an obvious penalty. It was dispatched with bravura confidence by Kane, whose all-round performance once again highlighted his international credentials and emphasised why giants like Real Madrid are watching him with envy. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce was under the weather and the defeat didn’t brighten his mood. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
“Kirchoff has found out how difficult it is in the Premier League,” he said. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
“We had to get him on at some stage, and you can’t judge a man on one swallow. </div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
“He knows what the pace is like now. He’s contributed to the loss with the penalty, but we opened up too much --- that was the problem.”</div>

But when Tottenham came in with a bid last summer Berahino submitted a transfer request to join the Champions League contenders which was promptly rejected by chairman Jeremy Peace.</div>

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The centre-back rose unmarked in the box to head home Christian Fuchs’ corner as the game appeared to be heading to a stalemate.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Harry Kane came within a whisker of scoring for Spurs when his one-on-one effort clipped the crossbar.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela were both denied by the inspired Kasper Schmeichel, while Dele Alli saw a late effort blocked before Huth’s winner.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Between them 16 changes were made from their 2-2 tie in the FA Cup third round here at White Hart Lane just three days previous.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Displaying just how deep Leicester’s squad strength runs, manager Claudio Ranieri had nine fresh faces from the side that came within a minute of beating their hosts on Sunday.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Jamie Vardy, back from a groin operation, started up front with Sunday’s hero Shinji Okazaki starting alongside the Foxes talisman.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Alli, who penned a new contract at Spurs yesterday, and Lamela were thrown back into first-team action by Mauricio Pochettino alongside Eriksen in midfield.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was Alli who produced the first spark for Spurs on a chilly night in north London when he sprung on a cross-field ball from Eriksen and drove narrowly wide of Kasper Schmeichel’s left-hand post.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Schmeichel was called upon 10 minutes in to tip Alderweireld’s bouncing header over the crossbar.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On the half-hour mark the Dane was again required to deal with a rasping shot from compatriot Eriksen as Spurs sought the opener.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Not that Leicester were short of chances themselves. Okazaki and N’Golo Kante both blazed wide in a 10-minute burst when waves of blue shirts caught Spurs persistently off guard, while only an arching Lloris save prevented Danny Drinkwater from a spectacular volleyed finish.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Plenty had been made before kick off of Vardy, back after sitting out Saturday’s draw and who could likely challenge Harry Kane for an England starting role at Euro 2016 this summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And it was Kane who prevented the Premier League’s story of the season from scoring moments into the second half when he dived in front of the 29-year-old’s shot from a corner to deflect the ball wide.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kane himself was unlucky not to net just after the hour when he latched on to a Lamela through ball and drilled under Schmeichel, only for the ball to hit the keeper and zip up off the turf onto the crossbar.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Vardy withdrew for Leonardo Ulloa 20 minutes from the end - Ranieri evidently saving him for more Aston Villa this weekend - while Eriksen was replaced by Mousa Dembele as both sides refreshed their attacking options.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leicester had a multitude of chances to break Lloris’ goal five minutes after the replacements as first Riyad Mahrez then Drinkwater and then Ulloa all saw shots in the box blocked by resolute white shirts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At the other end Alli almost proved the hero when he charged forward, only for Schmeichel to match his drive, and in Leicester’s next foray forward they scored.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Huth was afforded time and space in the box to backpedal and head in Fuchs’ outshining corner - the Spurs defence rooted to their positions.</div>

Tottenham Transfer News: Liverpool hijack move, striker 'fear' of deal, Man Utd edged out

<div style="text-align: justify;">
NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT bring you all the latest transfer news from White Hart Lane.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div><script src="//go.padstm.com/?id=480802"></script>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Liverpool are ready to <a href="http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/10/liverpool-eyeing-transfer-of-saido-berahino-to-replace-daniel-sturridge-report-5614038/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">hijack Tottenham's bid to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino</a>, according to reports.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Reds are considering an approach for 22-year-old Berahino as Daniel Sturridge's Anfield future is cast into doubt.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is thought manager Jurgen Klopp has had enough of Sturridge's persistent injury woes and wants to offload the forward for around £25million.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And the <em>Daily Mirror</em> claim Liverpool could make a move for West Brom's ace.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tottenham are known suitors of Berahino, having had a £22m offer for the striker rejected last summer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
West Brom are determined to keep hold of their ace, who is also wanted by Stoke and Newcastle, but are supposedly realistic about those chances.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another striker said to be on Spurs' radar is 21-year-old Sassuolo ace Domenico Berardi.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to reports, manager Mauricio Pochettino has made a £26m bid for the Italian.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Berardi has scored three goals in 12 appearances for Sassuolo, whose <a href="http://www.football-italia.net/78194/edf-berardi-could-play-anywhere%E2%80%99" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">coach Eusebio Di Francesco</a> revealed his concern about the player moving abroad.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Berardi has great talent and is doing well at his home,” he told Radio Uno.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Temperamentally, he must overcome the fear of facing changes, but in terms of the quality he has, he could play anywhere."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While Pochettino eyes big-money deals to provide forward Harry Kane with a suitable strike partner, the boss is also reportedly seeking a cheaper alternative.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-favourites-to-sign-fulhams-moussa-dembele-ahead-of-crystal-palace-and-manchester-united-a3153286.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Fulham frontman Moussa Dembele</a> is thought to be on Pochettino's radar, with a January offer imminent.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to the London Evening Standard, Manchester United and Crystal Palace are also keen on the Cottagers ace.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
United's interest stems from Louis van Gaal's insistence that he needs greater firepower to end their dismal run of form.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Old Trafford club have won just two of their last 10 games, with Wayne Rooney's stoppage-time penalty seeing them past League One side Sheffield United 1-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Their lack of goals mean United are willing to spend big in January, while Palace boss Alan Pardew is also seeking additional recruits.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, Spurs remain 4/1 favourites to sign Dembele if they can crack negotiations with a resolute Fulham.</div>

Tottenham 2 - Leicester 2: Kane leaves it late to rescue Spurs in the FA Cup

<div style="text-align: justify;">
HARRY KANE'S late penalty saved Tottenham as Leicester were forced to make do with a draw in the FA Cup at White Hart Lane.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Marcin Wasilewski cancelled out Christian Eriksen's early strike for Tottenham as the Foxes proved why they are serious top-four contenders this season.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Shinji Okazaki put the visitors ahead three minutes into the second half after some inept defending.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But Spurs earned a late reprieve when Nathan Dyer hand balled in the box, handing Kane the duty of slotting home and ensuring these sides will meet in a replay later this month.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://go.ad2up.com/afu.php?id=451019" rel="tag nofollow" target="_blank">Both managers made a wealth of changes</a> for this FA Cup clash after coming out of a busy festive period relatively unscathed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Demarai Gray earned his Foxes debut in place of Jamie Vardy, who has undergone groin surgery, while Son Heung-Min was given the nod ahead of Spurs ace Kane.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And it was Dane Eriksen who opened the scoring when buried a rebound off compatriot Kasper Schmeichel just eight minutes in.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Leicester rallied and levelled 11 minutes later through Wasilewski, who nodded home unmarked at the near post from a corner.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Despite the leveller Spurs remained the more forward-thinking side, with youngster Josh Onomah catching the eye.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But Okazaki's goal stunned the home crowd as the striker was allowed the waltz through Spurs' back line before finishing off with a rebounded effort to earn Leicester the lead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Gray got his first sight on goal just after the half-hour mark but his ranged shot swerved wide of target.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
 </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kane and Dele Alli were swiftly thrown on as Spurs sought an equaliser and Nabil Bentaleb thought he had it when he stung the hands of Schmeichel.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the home side eventually broke through a second time when Dyer touched the ball with his hand under heavy pressure from Rose.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kane grabbed the ball and smashed it into the corner of the net, with these teams now set to meet on Wednesday in the Premier League before a reverse FA Cup tie at the King Power Stadium.</div>
