Real Madrid want to sign William Carvalho |
REAL MADRID are reportedly ready to step up their interest in Arsenal and Chelsea target William Carvalho.
New Real boss Rafa Benitez has reportedly instructed Bernabeu officials to increase their efforts to sign Carvalho as he looks to reinforce his midfield, according to Spanish news outlet AS.
With Lucas Silver expected to be loaned out to either Real Betis or Levante and Asier Illarramendi reportedly close to joining Liverpool, Benitez is short of options in midfield with just Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro.
AS claim Madrid have been keeping tabs on Carvalho’s development and have made contact with his agent Jorge Mendes to inquire over his availability.
Sporting Lisbon have valued the Portugal international at €45million (£32m) but do expect to lose him. The have already sought replacements in the form of Bruno Paulista and Alberto Aquilani.
The 23-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal this summer, however attempts to sign the youngster have been knocked after he was ruled out for three months with a stress facture to his tibia.
