MAURICIO POCHETTINO is convinced the tough training regime he put Tottenham through in the summer is paying off with the lack of injuries that are hitting his squad.
While fellow big guns Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have all seen their squads ravaged by knocks this season, Tottenham have remained mostly injury free.
And the Argentine, whose side take on Leicester in their FA Cup third-round replay tonight - the third meeting in 11 days between the clubs - believes that the gruelling double sessions he put his side through in the summer are responsible.
Spurs only have Ryan Mason and Clinton N’Jai on the long term injury list at the moment, and Pochettino said: “Maybe yes. Our methods maybe help us, we seem to be the team who don’t get injuries.
“I cannot analyse other teams. But we are happy with the way we perform, we are in top tactical and physical condition. There are a lot of games during the English season, and we try to find the way to help the team provide good fitness and tactical solutions to try to perform well.
“You have the Premier League, Europe and the FA Cup – it’s important to get to the end of the season strong and with a good fitness level. That is one of our objectives.”
Tottenham’s players still do one double session a week, and according to the statistics only Bournemouth’s players have run further this season.
