PRESTON are close to clinching a move for Manchester United midfielder Liam Grimshaw.
The 20-year-old has been on loan at Motherwell this season where he's made 16 appearances before being recalled by United earlier this month.
The Football Insider report that a source within Old Trafford has revealed that Grimshaw has agreed terms with the Championship club and a deal could be finalised within the next 12 hours.
He would become the second United youngster to leave the club for Deepdale this January window, with 21-year-old midfielder Ben Pearson moving for £100,000 last week.
Grimshaw has been a member of United's academy since 2002 but he's never made a senior appearance for the club.
He's won two caps for England Under-18s and if he does join Preston, he will arrive at Deepdale with the club 13th in the Championship and unbeaten in their last four matches.
United and England legend David Beckham enjoyed a loan spell with Preston early in his career in the 1994-95 season and he scored twice in five matches with the club playing in the old third division.
