GARY NEVILLE has been warned he is walking into a football hotbed at Valencia.
And Watford boss Quique Flores, who played and managed at the La Liga club, fears the heat will soon be on him if doesn't win over the fans.
Neville's appointment has received a mixed reception at the Mestalla. There is also a power struggle going on behind the scenes after president Amadeo Salvo and sporting director Rufete were forced out in the summer.
Flores said: "They need to sort out their troubles and come back to the top of the league.
"I hope Gary is able to repair the harmony between the club and the fans with some good results.
"The atmosphere at Valencia is not easy to manage. When there is internal fighting it disturbs everyone inside the club. You need to know how Valencia is to make it work.
"If I have to talk to him I will tell him, 'Gary you must concentrate on the team as there's a lot of things you can't control'.
"It's important to control the passion of the fans. The expectation of the team is very, very high. It's a hot place and the fans are passionate."
The last British boss to work in Spain, David Moyes, was sacked by Real Sociedad last month amid claims that he hadn't learned the language.
Flores hopes Neville buys into the Spanish culture and said: "You have to adapt as quickly as possible to the culture of Spain as it's completely different to England.
"And it's important to learn the language. People in different countries give a lot of value to people settling in a quickly possible.
"The most important thing is the personality of the coach and how he can manage the squad. The squad is now open to Gary's ideas and the most important is getting the connection."
