LEICESTER continue to stun everyone with their Premier League form and now sit top of the table on Christmas Day.

Top at Christmas but will Leicester be there in May? History gives insight into title race
Leicester currently have a two point lead at the top of the Premier League table

But can the Foxes go on to win the title after being top heading into the festive period?
Here Express Sport looks at what the history books suggest.
Recent history:
Five times in the last six seasons the team sitting top on December 25 have been there at the end of the season.
Manchester City are the one anomaly, as they climbed from third to first in the 2013-14 season, albeit with the assistance of Steven Gerrard’s loss of footing and a helping hand from Crystal Palace.

1996/1997 season:
Liverpool topped the table heading into the festive season in 1996 with 38 points after 19 matches, but the Reds weren’t able to convert their great start into a title winning year.
Eventual winners Manchester United were fifth at Christmas, but after being seven points adrift, they came back to win the title.

Arsenal’s comeback:
Arsene Wenger’s Gunners were 13 points off the top at Christmas in 1997.
But they produced a stunning second-half to the season and became the only team to move from sixth on December 25 to champions at the end of the campaign.

Aston Villa’s meltdown:
In 1998 Aston Villa went into Christmas sitting pretty at the top of the table.
But their form dropped off massively, and John Gregory's side finished sixth, the most a team has dropped after sitting on the summit on December 25 .
United went on to win the title, after being third on Christmas day.

United’s record lead:
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side has a record 12-point lead at Christmas, with Leeds and Blackburn trailing far behind them.
United didn’t blow their huge advantage and ended up winning the title by eight points.
