Louis van Gaal advised to sign Charlie Austin in January |
MANCHESTER UNTIED legend Gordon Hill has urged Louis van Gaal to swoop for QPR striker Charlie Austin.
The Red Devils were linked with a move for the 26-year-old in the summer after he impressed with 18 goals in his debut campaign in the Premier League.
But United, as well as the likes of Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle, refused to meet QPR's £15million asking price as he entered the final year of his deal.
Austin has again been linked with a move away from Loftus Road ahead of the January window as QPR sit just 12th in the Championship table and 15 points off an automatic promotion spot.
And Hill, who made 134 appearances for United from 1975 to 1978, believes Van Gaal should take a chance on Austin after his two goals inspired QPR's comeback to draw 2-2 with Brighton last night.

He wrote on Twitter: "Cannot understand why Charlie Austin is still playing in the Championship, same mould as Vardy. Take a chance United."
But Austin said after the game: "I set out at the start [of the season] and I said to Les [Ferdinand] that I'm going to be here for the rest of the season. So I'm not going anywhere."
