LOUIS VAN GAAL has ruined Manchester United’s squad by selling the players he has done.

That is the withering assessment of former Red Devils striker Michael Owen.
Van Gaal suffered a disastrous evening last night as United crashed out of the Champions League group stages after a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Wolfsburg.
The Dutchman has spent over £250million during his 18 months in charge and dispensed with 11 players during that period.
But Owen thinks the players that were sold by Van Gaal would easily get a place in the starting line-up now.

“I feel with all the money that has been invested – it’s a worse squad than it was,” Owen said as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“We were looking at the players Van Gaal has let go in his reign during the 18 months and I’m sure they would beat tonight’s team.
“We had Rafael, [Nemanja] Vidic, [Jonny] Evans and [Patrice] Evra as a back four. Nani, [Shinji] Kagawa, [Tom] Cleverley, [Robin] van Persie and Chicharito [Javier Hernandez]. [Adnan] Januzaj is another one. [Danny] Welbeck is another one.

“We thought only two outfield players from tonight’s team – Chris Smalling and Michael Carrick – would get into the 11 that he’s actually let go.
“Apart from that the players he has let go are probably better than what we’ve seen tonight – and that’s after all that investment.”
