Eddie Jones has issued an apology along with an explanation as to why he will be leaving Cape Town to take on an international coaching post with England. Watch.
Just eight days after a conference where he pledged his commitment to the Cape franchise, Jones is in London having been confirmed as the new England coach.
There has been plenty of speculation about Jones' future ever since his arrival in Cape Town earlier this month. He received the official offer from the RFU on Wednesday, which proved impossible to turn down.
On Friday, WPRFU president Thelo Wakefield and WP Director of Rugby Gert Smal addressed the media in Cape Town to clear the air around Jones' departure. They were not at liberty to disclose the 'release fee' that was paid by the RFU, nor did they give any indication as to who might take over as Stormers head coach.
