MAROUANE FELLAINI has been urged to quit Manchester United in January by his national boss.
The Belgium midfielder, 27, below, has started just one Premier League game this season. United boss Louis van Gaal has toiled to find a place for Fellaini, alternating him between attack and midfield, and largely confined him to a substitute role. Fellaini, who has won 64 Belgium caps, has scored just once this season.
Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has suggested the £28million United buy from Everton will struggle to make the star-packed national squad for the Euro 2016 finals unless he changes clubs.
Wilmots said: “A player who doesn’t turn out for his club is annoying for his national coach.
“Fellaini can go upfield to support his strikers, or can play on his own as a defensive midfielder. He has very good technique, can run all day long and has great powers of recovery.
“It is up to him to see whether he wants to take on a new challenge in January, if he has the opportunity to do so.”
