BRIEF ENCOUNTER celebrates its 70th Anniversary with special screenings followed by tea dances with a live band through the UK in November.

As the nation goes crazy for Strictly Come Dancing, the legendary weepie is getting in on the act with special dance-themed screenings throughout the UK.
Cinema goers across the UK are being invited to don their best vintage outfits and dancing shoes and relive the 1940s.
Immersive screenings are being mounted across the land of the timeless classic Brief Encounter, as the film celebrates its 70th anniversary this November.
As part of the BFI’s major UK-wide season BFI Love, in partnership with Plusnet, Big LOVE Tea Dance events are being organised by Live Cinema UK across the UK from Somerset to Scotland in community cinemas, theatres and train stations.
At the same time, the ITV Studios film has been rereleased in newly restored digital print and is out now in select cinemas.
The lead Big LOVE Tea Dance event took place as part of the Leeds International Film Festival on Saturday, November 7, in the grandeur of the Grade II listed church-turned-arts centre, Leeds Left Bank.
The dazzling event evoked the vintage afternoon tea dance of the 1940s, complete with dance lessons and live music before the whistle sounded for the arrival of David Lean’s Brief Encounter.
The tea dance screenings will continue through November, with the next event at Roses Theatre in Gloucestershire on Tuesday, November 17.
This will be followed by a night at The Continental in Preston on Tuesday, November 24 and then The Curzon Community Cinema in Clevedon on Saturday, November 28.
There will also be special screenings of the film in Network Rail HQ in Milton Keynes on Thursday November 12 and Moor St Station in Birmingham on December 4, 5 and 6.
However fancy your footwork, it is a gorgeous chance to quickstep back in time.
