LOSING is never nice, especially when the stakes are so high, like when it comes to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 official launch later this week on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC.
Treyarch have revealed more on why fans on last-gen consoles are set to miss out on the new four-player co-op campaign and how the developers in charge were simply unable to bridge the gap with the hardware on offer.
Problems stem from the memory available and would have meant the dropping of key customisation and features from the overall experience, according Treyarch's Jason Blundell.
"I think [Activision] made the right choice because I would hate for people to get an experience that wasn't true to the vision of it," Blundell told Official Xbox Magazine.
"As the director, I'm incredibly passionate about the experience being a pure experience, that you get what I was trying to have you get."

Giving an example of how this would have negatively impacted user experience, Blundell added: "Let's just take a simple system, a really simple one--the weapon that you have.
"So it's a co-op game. let's imagine I have my customised weapon and I've made it with a stock and all this extended mag and so forth.
"For you as a co-op player to see what weapon I have, you have to have loaded in the memory--in resident memory--every single weapon customisation.
"Current-gen memory just can't do that. You'd have to have everything loaded otherwise you just can't see what I'm carrying."
It follows the release of the new live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, directed by Wayne McClammy and featuring Michael B. Jordan, Cara Delevingne, and Marshawn Lynch.
It follows fan, Kevin as he wall-runs, thrust jumps, and power slides through enemies and zombies on his way to 'glory'.
“The Black Ops series is beloved by millions of fans, who have continued to make it the most played series in Call of Duty. This year, the high-profile release of Black Ops 3 is a pop culture moment for fans to come together and celebrate around the globe,” said Tim Ellis, CMO, Activision Publishing, Inc.
“‘Seize Glory’ captures that feeling of exhilaration and accomplishment in which anyone can go on an amazing run and become his or her own champion in Call of Duty. This campaign celebrates our community and the unforgettable gameplay moments they’ll experience in Black Ops 3.”
