West Ham boss backs Andy Carroll to win back England spot despite Sam Allardyce criticism
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has backed Andy Carroll to win back his England spot
SLAVEN BILIC has backed Andy Carroll to win back his England spot despite criticism from his old West Ham boss Sam Allardyce.

The new Sunderland manager hit out at his old striker’s attitude in his latest book and claimed he does not love football enough.
But although Bilic reckons his predecessor’s remarks are valid, he believes Carroll can work them in his favour.
“It is a criticism but in a nice way, it’s more like a motivation than a criticism,” said the Croatian. Sam said he’s not giving himself into football like he should.

New Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce criticised Carroll's attitude in his latest book
“I think Andy likes football. He likes to train, he loves to play games. Every game he has played so far, I’m talking about five-a-side, he’s the one who knows the results and all that and goes we’re winning and all that, our ball, second half. He’s very interested.
“For me it would be logical for him to play for England. But first he has to continue to train without injuries, without stopping training.
“Then that would bring him into a position to play more for West Ham, that would bring him into a position to score more goals for us.

Bilic reckons Carroll can use Allardyce's criticisms in his favour
“Then it would be enough for Roy Hodgson to put him in the England squad.”
Despite Allardyce’s comments, Bilic is delighted by the way Carroll has responded following his return from knee surgery.
“I heard about before that sometimes he got injured because he was not totally dedicated to be a footballer,” added the Croatian,

“Those stories are definite, there is something behind them, they are true. It is very rare that people are making up stories.
“But from my first day, he was injured, but he has worked through six-eight weeks of struggle that was boring and not ideal and was not fun.
“He did it as a great professional and now we are expecting big benefits out of that.

“I have had a few talks with him and if I see that he is not training properly and he is not looking after his body, I will talk again.”
