Daley Blind claims he is adapting well to life at centre-back for Manchester United
MANCHESTER UNITED defender Daley Blind insists he has settled well to life as a centre-back and wants manager Louis van Gaal to keep playing him there.
A left-back or defensive midfielder by trade, Blind has had to cover for the injured pair of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo at the heart of defence. He has built a strong partnership with Chris Smalling, although the club are also light at left-back because of Luke Shaw's long-term injury.Ashley Young has been deployed on the left side of defence, while Matteo Darmian has also been switched from right-back at times, allowing Blind to learn the role in the centre. And he now claims it is his preferred position.“Of course now I feel most comfortable in the centre-back position,” he told De Telegraaf.
Injuries to key players like Luke Shaw means Blind has been used across the back line
“There I play every week at Manchester United and I feel good.“(But) I have not so much difficulty to play again at left-back, central defender or midfielder.”The 25-year-old was recently accused of being too small to adapt to life in the Premier League. However, Blind has proved to be one of Van Gaal's most astute signings since his arrival from Ajax for around £14million at the start of last season.
