MANCHESTER CITY will be without Sergio Aguero and David Silva for the derby with Manchester United on October 25.
City will asses the injured pair but are said to be resigned to losing them both for the game at Old Trafford and beyond.
Aguero injured his hamstring playing for Argentina last week and doctors from the national team say he is facing months on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Silva has added to City's woes after he was carried off with an ankle knock against Luxembourg and should be out for at least a fortnight.
Doctors back in Manchester will run their own tests but reports claim they believe those timescales to be about right, having already seen the scans.
Agureo is understood to be particularly upset by the news and was reduced to tears in the dressing room.
After a stuttering start to the season, he burst into life with five goals in the recent 6-1 win over Newcastle and appeared to be back to his best.
But his revival has been cruelly cut short and rivals United will be the immediate benefactors.
City face Bournemouth this weekend before their Champions League clash with Sevilla next week and the Manchester derby the following Sunday.
United have had their own injury problems of late but could welcome back four players for the game against their cross-city rivals, with Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo all in contention.
